In a collaboration lasting several days in Novi Sad, Belorukov&Zlanabitnig explored the acoustic and electronic sound combinations of their instruments as well as ambiental sounds and field recordings in the immediate surroundings of the city. Ilia and Sara integrated their sounds into the spaces in which they were played in, be it the studio_kuda.org, the museum acoustics or the Peace Chapel. The musicians developed different approaches through a common language of free improvised music in real time. After the recording sessions, they selected material to work with and created five multi-layered, multi-dimensional pieces. Murmurations is an interplay of sonic posibilities between flute and drum. Focused on subtle musical events that come from flute timbres that react on drum skin Taiga explores the realm of low volumes on their respective instruments and creates stories inspired by nature. As silence and calm are a big part of the creative process behind the making of this album, the concept of driving prepared drum with flute resonances, encouraged by feedback loops, is what makes this music uniqe as you deep dive into microscopic storytelling that you did not know was there.
